Service Writer 

Tom Hesser BMW in Scranton, PA is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill the position of Service Advisor in our rapidly expanding BMW store. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience, excellent verbal/written communication skills, and be very well organized. Job Summary: The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in our service department and for selling needed service to customers. The Service Advisor is the dealerships first-line customer-relations and service representative.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5:00 PM, some Saturday hours required.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Greeting customers in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Scheduling appointments by telephone, text or e-mail, using dealership computer system.
  • Preparing repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs required and obtaining approval signatures.
  • Estimating the cost and time needed to do a repair.
  • Follow up progress of each repair order during the day, contact customers by telephone, text or e-mail regarding changes in the estimate or time promised.
  • Verify warranty and service contract coverage; explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers and answer any questions, review work performed and explain charges and coverage.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' bulletins & publications.
  • Warranty processing & coding.
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties as directed by Service Manager.



Parts Counterperson

The Tom Hesser Auto Group is looking for an experienced Parts Counterperson to join the expanding Parts Department at our Chevrolet/BMW location.

Job Purpose:
Sells automotive parts by taking and clarifying customer orders; retrieving and selling new and replacement automotive parts; receiving and recording new parts inventory; maintaining parts databases; maintaining safe and secure environment.

Duties:
  • Takes customer orders by listening to and clarifying requests; identifying automotive parts; offering and explaining alternative solutions.
  • Completes sales by entering purchased items into sales/inventory system; obtaining payment; adding purchase to credit account; issuing sales receipts.
  • Maintains parts inventory by verifying supplies; placing orders when order-points are reached.
  • Stocks items by unpacking, arranging, and placing items in bins and on shelves; adjusting inventory system.
  • Receives returned items by inspecting items; returning payment; issuing credit; re-packing and re-shelving items; returning damaged items to supplier.
  • Maintains safe and secure environment by following safety and security standards and procedures; complying with codes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading about new products.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards

  • Tests components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment

  • Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning

  • Communicates directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs

  • Executes repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications

Qualifications

  • ASE Certification preferred

  • Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Basic Computer skills

  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality

  • Enjoy working in a fast paced environment

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations such as the disposal of hazardous waste

Qualifications

  • 2 years of body shop technical experience required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of vocational program preferred, but not required

  • Able to work in fast-paced environment

  • Good organizational skills

  • Clean and valid driver's license
